JAN 2nd New Years Series RND 1
 
We started Friday night by loading the truck, we had Steven Reed’s TOP ALCOHOL Funny car to load first then the Guy Watts Motorsports Altered, then on the bottom level
We had Fiona Keating’s MODIFIED dragster. We finished packing the truck and all headed home for rest.
 
Day started early as we headed out to the track at 6am for the gates to be opened at 7am. We unloaded the cars and set up our pit. We were keen to fire the Altered as I had just finished
Rebuilding the engine and fitting some new goodies. VERY EXCITED!!! Altered fired up beautiful with Sally being our new starter. We did a few adjustments and headed out for our first qualifier,
1st qualifier, Reaction 0.117 7.29 @ 183 mph, Car ran perfect even though we ran the altered rich due to the new goodies.
In between rounds we were learning new software as Sally and I sat in the AIRCON learning and getting helpful hints from Steve.
2nd qualifier, Reaction 0.031 7.32 @183 mph, still a perfect run, altered is running very consistent numbers.
3rd qualifier, Reaction 0.000 (PERFECT REATION) 7.30 @183 mph, once again the car ran on its numbers, so we knew we had made some perfect changes.

We went over to perth for the Westernationals with a new bike set-up, racing outside of the NT for the first time since the 90’s. The Hayabusa copped a big turbo and extensions on the swingarm the weeks leading up to the event. We had only run the bike up and down the road a few times and on the dyno the day before loading up and setting off across the Nullabour. Wednesday was an ANDRA test and Tune and the first time down the track with the bike, however we toasted the clutch and desintergrated the outside clutch plate. We spent Thursday and Friday pulling the bike down cleaning the crap out and replacing the clutch.
 
Saturday we had two qualifying runs scheduled, although three hours apart. First run was a 9.4 @ 163.63mph which we thought was alright as Phill only rode the bike off the line and short shifted through to third as we weren’t sure how the clutch would hold up. Second run we came up with a 9.15 @ 163.63mph with a slightly quicker 60”.
 
Sunday we had our third and final qualifier and we did not change any of the set-up and pulled a 9.18 @ 163.63mph, this left us qualified 7th out of 51 bikes in the Modified bike category and the second fastest AA/MB.
 
Made it through to the third round of eliminations where Andy Roberts from QLD took the win, Andy went on to win the final on a GSXR 1000.
 
The plan is to continue following the All-stars rounds for the rest of the season.

Cameron Miller

The day started off early as Sally, Aaron and Myself got to the track early morning waiting for dad to get in with semi. So we decided to find out where we were pitted. We found out we were pitted somewhere the semi wouldnt even fit, so i we had a chat to the track guys and we got a new pit. Dad arrived not long after and we started setting up.
 
First qualify was friday night so we got the car all warmed up and headed out.
0.328 reaction 7.58 ET @ 179mph. Left lane was bumpy as all the way done, as i pulled the parachutes i noticed sparks and smoke from the right lane as i turned my head i notice to blossomed chutes in my lane and had to turn quickly to avoid hitting him. it bounced violently into the braking area and straight into the grass flat. Now that shock me around.
 
Second qualify was the next day in the morning.
-0.019 reaction 7.64 ET @ 177mph. Not as good conditions as last night but still bumpy and i couldnt pull the car up quick enough so straight through to grass flat again.
 
Third qualify wasnt real good we went out and did a burnout but as i was backing up my steering got stiffer and stiffer so i decided not to run and just keep reversing back.
We got it back to the pits and stripped the steering box and tried freeing it up. We got it good enough to run but looked like from the bouncy track and all the dirt driving i had been doing i had siezed up a bearing and put more wear on the shaft.
 
First round was later in the day.
0.134 reation 7.62 ET @ 179mph. good run but he got a better reaction time then me, he got a 0.018 haha first one all day. but was a good race. I'd rather be beaten at the finish line then the start line.
 
We have a few new gadgets for our next meeting so we'll see how they go. Our next meeting at Willowbank for the ENZED NIGHT FIRE on Jan 2nd 2010. Cant wait.

Last Easter weekend marked the first anniversary of the Alice Springs Inland Dragway and the meeting was a great success. Thanks to all of the entrants and volunteers, especially our emergency service personnel who were in attendance. ALice Springs is currently being "blown away" with 3 more supercharged cars hitting the track. Althought they were not competing over the meeting and only doing license and testing passes, the spectators were still thrilled at the excitement that blown cars can bring. These latest additions are from Craig Pahkhurst witht eh funny car "Strip Search", Mark "Yak" Probst with his altered and Andrew Cole with a 1963 Corvette.
